ดร.ธนู กุลชล อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยกรุงเทพ เข้ารับเหรียญรางวัลศิษย์เก่าดีเด่นประจำปี 1998 ในพิธี
ประสาทปริญญาบัตรของ Southern Illinois University ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริการ เมื่อวันที่ 9 พฤษภาคม 2541นับ
เป็นศิษย์เก่าต่างชาติคนแรกที่ได้รับรางวัลนี้นับแต่ก่อตั้งมหาวิทยาลัยมาเป็นเวลา 129 ปี
ในโอกาสเดียวกันนี้ ดร.ธนู กุลชล ยังได้รับโล่สรรเสริญเกียรติคุณจาก Post-Doctoral Higher Education Academy,
College of Education จากมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งนี้อีกด้วย

Dr. Thanu Kulachol, President of Bangkok University, received the Alumni Achievement Award
at the Commencement Ceremony of Southern Illinois University, U.S.A., on May 9, 1998. He was the first former
international student to ever receive such award since the inception of the University in 1869.
On the same occasion, Dr.Thanu Kulachol also received a Plaque of Recognition from the Post-Doctoral Higher
Education Academy of the College of Education of the said University.
