เกียรติคุณ SIU Distinguished Alumni Award John E. King Award และ Alumni Achievement Award

		คณะผู้บริหาร คณาจารย์ เจ้าหน้าที่ และนักศึกษา ร่วมแสดงความชื่นชมยินดีในโอกาสที่ สมาคมศิษย์เก่าแห่งมหาวิทยาลัยเซ้าท์เทิร์น อิลินอยส์ ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา มอบรางวัลศิษย์เก่าดีเด่นแก่ ดร.ธนู กุลชล อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยกรุงเทพ ในฐานะที่ทำชื่อเสียงให้แก่มหาวิทยาลัยซึ่งเป็นศิษย์เก่าที่ไม่ใช่ชาวอเมริกันคนแรกที่ได้รับรางวัล โดยพิจารณาคัดเลือกจากศิษย์เก่าจำนวน 180,000 คนทั่วโลกและเป็น 1 ใน 5 ของผู้ที่ได้รับรางวัลในปีนี้ สำหรับภาพและประวัติของดร.ธนู ในฐานะศิษย์เก่าดีเด่นได้รับการจารึกไว้ใน Recreation Center ใจกลางมหาวิทยาลัย ดร.ธนู เคยได้รับรางวัล Alumni Achievement Award จาก College of Education ซึ่งเป็นคณะที่สำเร็จการศึกษา และรางวัล The John E. King Award จาก The Post Doctoral Academy of Higher Education ของ Southern Illinois University เมื่อปีพ.ศ. 2541 และเมื่อวันที่ 6 ตุลาคม 2543 ดร.ธนูได้เดินทางไปร่วมพิธีมอบรางวัลแก่ศิษย์เก่าดีเด่นของ Souther Illinois University ในงาน คืนสู่เหย้า ณ Southern Illinois University ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา สำหรับศิษย์เก่าที่มีชื่อเสียงและเคยได้รับรางวัลนี้ อาทิ Marcia Bullard ประธานกรรมการบริหารและบรรณาธิการนิตยสาร USA Weekend, Dennis Franz ผู้ได้รับรางวัล Emmy Awards ถึง 3 ครั้งจากการ นำแสดงในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง NYPD Blue, Walt Frazier นักบาสเกตบอลผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ของสหรัฐอเมริกา และ Judith Roales ผู้พิมพ์ผู้โฆษณาหนังสือพิมพ์ St. Petersburg Time เป็นต้น
	BU executives, faculty, staff and students jointly delight in the occasion that the SIU (Southern Illinois University) Alumni Association honored Dr. Thanu Kulachol, President of Bangkok University, as one of its five Distinguished Alumni recipients for this year, who were selected from 180,000 SIU alumni all over the world. He is also the first non-American ever to receive this award. His framed photo and biographical sketch is displayed on the SIU Distinguished Alumni wall, at the Recreation Center on campus. Prior to this, Dr. Thanu Kulachol received the Alumni Achievement Award from College of Education, where he graduated,

and the John E. King Award from the Post Doctoral Academy of Higher Education, Southern Illinois University, in 1998. This year, on October 6, he attended the SIU Distinguished Alumni Recognition Ceremony in the Homecoming Celebration at Southern Illinois University, U.S.A. The previous SIU Distinguished Alumni inductees were, for instance, Marcia Bullard, Executive Chairman and Cief Editor of USA Weekend; Dennis Franz, an actor who received 3 Emmy Awards for his leading role in NYPD Blue series; Walt Frazier, one of the greatest basketball players in American history; and Judith Roales, Chief Editor of St. Petersburg Time.
